Born in Taiwan 1947. John S.C. Wang’s training started with his scholarly family. Since the age of 12 he has received citations for outstanding achievements and numerous awards. Mr. Wang is recognized as a master calligrapher and seal engraver in Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. During the span of last 20 years Mr. Wang’s calligraphy teaching, has progressively instilled eastern philosophies of art into the interests of a contemporary western culture. He has published ‘Praise of Confucius, Historical Records - Seal Impressions’ in 1979 and a 30 minutes tape ‘Five Elements of Chinese Calligraphy’ in 1997. Currently Mr. Wang is an appointed calligraphy teacher by the Freer and Sackler Galleries of the Smithsonian Institution and he also teaches calligraphy at Rockville Chinese School ; Li-Ming Chinese Academy and the East Asian Language and Literature Department of George Washington University.
